How to set a custom ringtone

Since I upgraded my Samsung Galaxy S to Android 2.3.3, it has no more been possible to set a custom ringtone.

A rapid googling provided me with the solution:

  • create three directories on the internal SD card, in the /audio directory:
    • ringtones
    • notifications
    • alarms
  • put the audio files into relevant directory
